Projects that have been implemented through the center (2001-current)
- 2001-2003
Under an EU/CIHEAM research program CRDRS has achieved the following two field research works in collaboration with the Agronomic Institute of Mediterranean in Montpellier, France (IAMM).

1. “The Institutions and Organizations of Rural Development under Globalization conditions in EGYPT”. The work was undertaken on a sample of 400 farm/households in 5 villages in two areas in Giza and South Tahrir in the desert reclaimed lands.
2. “Changements des activités et stratégies de revenus des ménages ruraux des pays méditerranéens dans le contexte de la mondialisation”. The work was undertaken on a sample of 400 farm/households in 5 villages in two areas in Giza and South Tahrir in the desert reclaimed lands.
The final results of the above-mentioned two projects were published in a special book.
- Preparation of The Re-Structural Plan of the Community Development Component of the East Delta Agricultural Services Project of the World Bank during the period January-March 2002.
- Three of the staff members of CRDRS were involved in other research and development activities in the areas of “Gender perspectives in rural Development”, “Institutional Framework of Poverty and Resources Degradation” and “Assessment of Water Users Associations” through contracting with the “Desert Development Center” DDC of the American University in Cairo AUC during the period 1994 to 2002.

Pillars and Social Impacts of Settlement Projects in New Lands and their Role in the Social Planning of the New Mega National Agricultural Projects

Institutional and Social Innovations in Irrigation Mediterranean Management (ISIIMM)

Partner organizations from five countries; France, Italy, Spain, Morocco and Lebanon CRDRS has engaged in a regional action project with other financed by EURO- WATER-MEDA under the leadership of AGROPOLIS Montpellier, France. Four representative local offices were established to take care of the project activities in Nubaryia, Behera, Fayoum and Menia.
The project included a component for field research to develop a database about ten thousand farmers in the four areas of the project, at its first stage, by using comprehensive surveys. These data have been updated within the framework of follow-up activities and internal and external evaluations of the results of intervention by the project in the area of supporting the institutional capacities and human resources development for Water Users Associations and. This project is considered as a model of effectiveness, which is their Board of Directors appreciated and recognized by the monitoring and evaluation bodies of the “ EU-MEDA Water Program”.

FORMED project

CRDRS has engaged in a three years regional project called FORMED with other partner institutes from three countries; France, Greece, and Morocco to update and establish new graduate courses in the area of Rural Development based on multipole and multidisciplinary approach. It is financed by the TEMPUS program of the European Commission Directorate General for Education and Culture.
Within the framework of this project, a joint book on “Social assessment of the effects of intangible impacts of rural development projects” was prepared, in Arabic, and is being translated into French, and is under publishing.

A2DTRM PROJECT “SUPPORT OF DEVELOPMENT DYNAMICS OF RURAL AREAS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN”

Participation with scientific institutions in France, Morocco and Tunisia in the implementation of the A2DTRM project to provide actors involved in defining and implementing policies and projects targeting the development of rural areas (local authorities, local operators, public services decentralization, NGOs and service providers) with a framework of conceptual and methodological tools as well as the necessary knowledge to increase the efficiency of the implemented procedures, and to benefit from practical experiences gathered from successful local initiatives in the four partner countries.

Partnership agreement between CRDRS and Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS). On 26 December 2016 CEOSS, with CRDRS, was awarded a grant contract (the “Contract”) by the EU in order to implement the European project in favor of Sustainable Accelerated Growth in Egypt.
